Youth-Led Rastriya Swatantra Party Nearly Secures Two-Thirds Majority in Nepal
The youth-led Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) won the election with a historic victory. The party achieved 182 seats, nearly equal to the two-thirds supermajority. Last year, violent protests took place in the region and that led to the defeat of KP Sharma Oli and Gagan Thapa. Now the former rapper turned politician Balendra Shah, ready to become the new leader of Nepal. This victory shows the considerable amount of public support for real change and the rejection of the status quo and the legacy of the long established Nepali political elite, with the RSP having been formed less than four years ago.
